Thoughts On 2026 LIVs!
A few friends of LIV got an early walkaround of our latest builds and shared their first impressions. The takeaways are useful for anyone considering joining the lightweight lifestyle — and especially helpful for first-time owners trying to figure out which floorplan is really the right one.
What they noticed first
The thing that catches people up front is the weight. They expected a “lightweight travel trailer” to feel flimsy. What they got instead was a rigid composite cage that doesn’t flex under hand-pressure on the corners — proof that “light” and “strong” aren’t opposites if the build is engineered correctly.
What floorplan questions came up
Our visitors had the same conversations we have with first-time owners every week. The questions:
- How many people are you actually sleeping?
- Do you want a dedicated bedroom, a convertible dinette, or both?
- What’s your tow vehicle — and what’s its real, loaded tow rating?
- Are you mostly campground, mostly off-grid, or a bit of both?
Their advice: don’t buy more trailer than the trip needs. A 17FD or 19BHD covers most couples and small families without ever forcing you into a bigger tow vehicle.
The lightweight lifestyle, summarized
Towable by what you already own. Composite shell with no wood and no rot. Standard features that don’t require an upgrade sheet to make livable. Pricing that doesn’t require a 30-year loan. The 2026 LIVs lean harder into all four — and the early walkthrough confirmed it.
